I see it's been about a month since I posted last. I wonder if anyone has actually missed my posts? I don't think so, but it's good therapy for me to get out what I'm feeling and how things are going in my life.
I got The Rat drawing done for Kathy and it turned out wonderful. Then I went and had it custom framed. I've always wondered how that is done and how expensive it would be, so I thought since me and Kathy are exchanging our talents it would be a good time to find out. Well, I went to Michael's Art Store to have it framed.
The Lady that helped me was very nice and very professional. Luckily everything was 60 % off.
She showed me lots of different frames and Mats. I finally decided on what I wanted and also got the special glass that is supposed to make it look like there is no glass covering the drawing at all. It's also supposed to keep all dirt, dust and UV light out of the drawing so that it will stay in Mint condition forever.
Then came the part that I was dreading.. The price.. On Sale for all of it, and for them to put it all together for me, it came to 204.00!! Wow!!
With the sale I saved like 288.00.
So, if there was no sale the whole thing would have cost me close to 500.00. That is just crazy!!
If I were charging Kathy for the drawing I would have put a price of 125.00 on it, unframed. That is just crazy that the frame cost tons more then the Art it's self..
But it was a good experience for me and now I know I can't afford to costom frame all my other art. I will have to figure out other ways to get it framed and hung on my walls in my studio.
It took Two weeks for them to put it all together and call me. I am AMAZED at how beautiful it all is together. I told Kathy I am going to have a hard time actually sending it to her because I love it and want to keep it for myself..lol
I have never seen my art framed in such a beautiful way before. :)
But, The Rats are Kathy's babies and I promised them to her, so I will send it to her. :) Of course I will take photo's of it before I send it away.
She is making me a one of a kind purse. She sews for a living and has made things for movies, and the military also.
She said she is adding new and different things to my purse. I can't wait to see it. I know I will love it.
Not to mention I need a new purse really badly and am to cheap to go out and buy one for myself..lol
Hopefully sometime this week we will send our things to each other. But I'm not positive because Kathy is sick today and I have been sick since yesterday and now I pulled out my back too.
The only reason I am able to be up right now is because I took two pain pills and it is taking the edge off the pain.
Anyway, I will post the Rats after I have sent it to Kathy and she has seen it. Because I'm not sure if she reads my blog or not. I don't think so, but I don't want to take a chance on her seeing it here before seeing it in person the first time.
Oh, and for My 51st Birthday, which was Aug. 2nd. I quit smoking.. and to my surprise, my husband quit too.. That is his birthday present to me. WOW!!!! I know God put him up to this because I don't think he would ever have the will power to do it on his own.. Same goes for me. We have had a few stumbles here and there, but we are doing very well at quitting. I am super proud of both of us.. Tim even more then myself because I think it is harder for him then for me.
Also for my Birthday Tim took me to the Casino and we had a really nice dinner there and then we played the slot machines for a few hours. I love to see him win.. He gets so excited and happy. :)
Also, Christal, Saige and Joel came over and brought me a Birthday present and a homemade Red Velvet cake. :)
I guess making the cake and getting the present was all Saiges Idea. That is what his mom said anyway. :) She said he made the cake almost by himself too. And I guess he made sure everything was green because he asked his mom what my favorite color was. :)
The cake was Yummy!!! and they put about 24 candles on it that I had to blow out. Thank GOD they didn't put on 51 or I think the cake would have had a melt down before she got them all lit..lol
For my present they got me a 12 inch by 12 inch piece of concrete that has lines on it like Tic tac toe.. and then it has 9 circle pieces of concrete. 5 have X's on them and 4 have O's on them.. It's supposed to be so you can keep it on your picnic table outside and play tic tac toe.. How Unique is that?? I thought it was a GREAT Present!!! :)
Saige has been doing really good in the pool.. He is learning to swim without his floaty vest on. He does really well when he's concentrating. Only problem is he forgets sometimes and trys to talk while he is swimming and then he takes in water.. or he gets side tracked and stops swimming and starts to sink..lol
But, he has come a long way since the beginning of the summer. When we started he was afraid of getting water on his face. Would freak out if he got splashed and was not very comfortable in the water.
Now he can hold his breath and he is not afraid of the water in his face and he is learning to swim. That is a lot for one season. :)
I'm very proud of him. :)
Also this is a very Exciting year because Maxx and Jett start school this year and Saige Starts school this year and Ethin starts school this year and even Nollie is starting Pre-school this year. :)
The 21st me and Christal, Joel and Saige all get to go to Saiges new school and see his class room and meet his new Teacher and he gets to take all his school supplies that night too. Then the next day on the 22nd he will actually start school. Christal will be taking him each morning and I will be picking him up from school each afternoon and keeping him until his dad gets off of work and comes to get him. :)
It will be so weird only having him in the afternoon and having all my days to myself. I hope I can get my energy level up so I can start to get a lot of things done. Not just my housework, but in my Art Studio. I really need to use the time I'm given to do something creative and start to sell some things.
My Pen Pals are so great!! I have 6 of them. 3 of them write once a week or so, and the other 3 write regularly. The 3 I talk to all the time are Victor from Russia, Kevin from Australia, and Aon from Canada (even though she was born in Thailand). We share lots of pictures with each other and have the greatest talks about anything and everything.
Victor even talked me into installing Skype so that we can talk to each other. He is just learning English. Although he speaks it pretty well and writes and reads it pretty well, he doesn't understand me when I talk it..lol Luckily we can type too while we talk. That helps him to understand what I am saying.
Now he has sent me a Russian guide to speaking Russian. Oh My..lol.. I don't think he understands how much trouble I have speaking English most the time..lol
I told him I will do my best to try and learn though.. That is all I can do. :)
Tonight I am all on my own. Tim is working over time til 8pm. I guess he is going to be doing that for the next few days. He likes to do stuff like that because it gives him time off when he wants it. And I don't mind. Especially when I am feeling bad. At least he is doing something and not at home being bored because I don't feel well..
On top of everything else that is going on this month, I also have dentist and dr appointments to go to. Such fun.. lol
But I guess I need to take care of myself too..
Today I was supposed to have a mammogram done but I am too sick to go anywhere, and then I pulled my back out to make it just that much more fun.. So I had to call and cancel. I will call back and set it up for next month. At least now when I have appointments Christal doesn't have to take off work so I can go because Saige will be in school when I have my appointments.. So that makes it really nice for me and Christal. :)
Wow.. I have really talked a lot today.. About a whole months worth..lol
I think I will go now and check up on Facebook and see if anything interesting is happening to my friends. :)
Have a GREAT Month, in case I'm not back until Sept..lol
